Did you know that there are whole new generation of rechargeable hearing aids available?

I’d like to talk to you about what’s happening in the world of hearing aid technology each month.

This month let’s talk about rechargeable hearing aids.

Rechargeable hearing aids have been around for a long time, however, they were not popular because the battery did not last that long. They had to be charged more than once a day. On top of this as wireless and more people streamed audio and music to their hearing aids, battery power consumption went up.

A New Generation of Rechargeable!

In the last 6 months there has been a surge in popularity of these devices due to a number of manufacturers offering rechargeable hearing aids. There are two new rechargeable hearing aid technologies, Lithium ion and Silver Zinc. Both of these technologies offer something different in terms of advantages and disadvantages, but one thing they both offer is the one charge per day expected standard.

You will find a detailed review of the advantages and disadvantages of the different type of rechargeable batteries here.

Advantages of Lithium Ion Rechargeable Hearing Aids

  • No more fiddly battery changes. You don’t have to worry about changing your hearing aid batteries or making sure you have some on hand.
  • You simply drop the hearing aid in the charger when you go to bed and it is charged when you wake up.
  • You are able to wear the hearing aid for 24 hours straight. And that’s with up to 5 hours of streaming audio to your hearing aids. Surely you will need a sleep by then.

Advantages of Silver Zinc Rechargeable Hearing Aids

  • You  only need to replace the battery once a year.
  • You put your hearing aid in the charger when you go to bed and it is charged when you wake up.
  • You are able to wear the hearing aid for 24 hours straight. And that’s with up to 5 hours of streaming audio to your hearing aids. Surely you will need a sleep by then.

As you hear from me over and over again, everything in life has something for it and something against it.

Each of the new technologies has some disadvantages. These appear to be safety , power consumption and size of the rechargeable batteries. Learn more about the possible disadvantages by reading this review here.
